gamer... Satriani did not teach Hammett how to play the guitar. He gave Kirk some lessons before the recording of "Kill 'Em All". It's not unusual for professional musicians to take lessons to improve their playing. Satriani is obviously the more technical player (Kirk's not even in his league), but this battle wouldn't even exist if Satch didn't give Kirk some lessons. Unfair battle in my opinion. Better battle Satch vs. Eric Johnson or Andy Timmons.

ok this is pretty close but i say kirk because well first off how well he did with metallica but satriani did well with deep purple and with all those other guitarists he worked with but he wasnt the best deep purple guitarist no that was richie blackmore so i say kirk metallica rules!!!!!!!!!!1

Satch is technically a very proficient guitarist not question. Unfortunately I just can't listen to his music for more than a few minutes as the man has no idea of how to write a song. All his records just seem to me to be little more than masturbation.

i agree with the comments about rape of the pentatonic scales. pentatonic = music for $, not music for the love of music. as for speed, anyone can play like crap very quickly. it takes skill to play a slow piece with expression to it. my main problem with modern music is everything is either very fast, or one dynamic. prestissimo + fortissimo = epic fail trash music. end of argument.

Most of the people who left a comment saying Kirk is better is most likely very unfamiliar with Joe and his music and are not big fans of instrumentals. I have to say Joe is still the better and is one of the best if not the best guitarist in my opinion
