Cubase 4 Low Latency Demo

Uploaded by: antelopechaser
Video Stream Description:
This demonstrates Cubase 4 running 6 VSTi plugins simultaneously with a audio buffer size of 64 samples, the minimal setting. It is running on an older 867MHz G4 processor, and OS 10.4.8. I was told that I was lying when I said that I did this, so here is the proof. The reason people can't do this on their faster G5s and whatnot is because they don't know their gear.

i think you have better performance with sx3,i guess there are 6 vst instruments each played monophonic, you have 867 er G4 dual cpus that should be better performance, i think cubase 4 is hungry for graphic resources like shaded windows... thanks for that demo

Hi Hank, the performance is identical in SX3. I've gone back to SX3 since even in the latest 4.03, there are severe problems with stuck notes in all plugins due to bugs in the Cubase 4 engine, there is the terrible MIDI data bubble problem, both of which are so severe as to make C4 unsatisfactory for serious work.

Hmmm! Latncy nice and low but you are not even pushing the the Song to test the SoundCard. Using the Same VST sounds like it over and over and over. Try getting some vocal recordings in there. And some good VSTs

Hi cyr3zuk, the purpose of the demo was to show it's possible to run an older G4 at low latency, people were saying it was impossible. The demo is not to showcase the most beautiful sounds I could find, nor is it to demonstrate how fast it is running CPU hungry plugins. It is only a low latency demo, nothing more, nothing less.

ummmmm? what are u doing! u just copied and pasted the same stuff to other channels but using different sounds! ANNNND ur performance bar is nearly MAXED out! noooot good. and ur using only 5 channels oh my. time 2 upgrade, you really need a descent song going on different effects, inserts, VSTS, vocals on 4 or 5 tracks to see if ur machine can really cope.

Serious work? Are you serious? Dude I could run a thousand shitty VST's at low latency, the poly count on all six is less than 10 by the sound of it - a bloody calculator can handle that shit, you're a muppet.
