lol. i knew someone was going to pounce on that one. but yes-that's what i mean. but actually, early pianos were being developed at the time, and bach actually DID try one, but he didn't really like it :)

Yeah, like a lot of people I guess, I prefer a slightly slower interpretation of this piece tempo-wise...yet, Richter's rendition is interesting in it's own right, and I'm glad to have heard it. Great composition and a great pianist.

I appreciate the fast tempo, but I feel that some of the cadences were rushed (which yields the feeling of an even faster tempo than it already is). Still, Richter's interpretation works practically as musically as any other, it's just not my favorite. :]

I would recommend Martha Argerich on this one...her stellar technique and delicacy of touch really do Ravel justice, in my humble opinion.

"it looks like he's fucking the piano"? Right... But what crossed MY mind was that he's looking like Renfield diggin' transilvanian soil into wooden boxes...

Haha at the end of the video there's a tone that's a half step lower than the ending note and it sounded like he hits a wrong note but its just the tape.

Congratulation to your fantastic sense of hearing, but here's a surprise for you: This IS the correct ending (a melodic line doesn't always end with the tonic keynote...!) Richter plays this stuff as if he accidentally popped some speed-pills that day, but you have to admit that he never hits ONE wrong key...
No, I am not ... ( 1 day ago by Kurtyoungblood)
No, I am not talking about the D# at the end (the acting major seventh). At 4:36 another tone, caused by the hum of some sort of device, is a Bb. (I was wrong when I said a half step below its actually a perfect fifth and a minor sixth together when "hum" note is combined with the E and the D#) Give me a thumbs up if this is the nerdiest comment ever. :)
