I cant give you a link to prove Klitschko was offered the fight,but it was in at least 2 newspapers in the uk last weekend,i can not say it's 100% true, but it seemed feasible.

True Doc, he's wasting his time tryna fight a fighter that will avoid him cos he's scared of being knocked out. Vitali on the otherhand would represent more of a challenge and doesn't duck anybody. Haye would have to be more on his guard and take Vitali more serious. Notice how Vitali left no angle for Haye to disrespect him on tv, unlike Wlad who has allowed Haye to startle him & make him look like a boy on camera.

Haye is an impressive fighter - no doubt. Probably capable of being a HW champ. He has speed, and power. The PROBLEM - and this is ALWAYS the problem going from Cruiserweight to Heavyweight - is that he's NEVER, EVER been hit by a guy who weighs 40-60 pounds heavier than him. Every class of boxing is defined by a few pounds, except for Heavyweight. Vlad will probably get hit, but he will win simply because he is almost 1/3 a human larger. Vlad weighs almost 240 pounds, Haye weighs about 195. KO.
