Not really random at all. He's sadistic so he felt naturally that he should become a dentist. Listen to the song. Many people are afraid of dentists, associate them with causing lots of pain and avoid going because of this reason. Think about it...do you know anyone who likes going to the dentist? That what makes this song so funny.

Oh sorry about that, one of those things you realize AFTER its been addressed. Same thing, also have to comment it's not the drill that really bothers people, it's the sound. If they could get that to make the sound of, Bob Seger?, I'd be skipping on down to see Steve Martin lol

I love Little Shop Of Horrors! Last Year, in arts, we played it and I enjoyed it so much!!! (I was a chorist) The dentist part definitly is one of my favrite. So funny!
