I grew up listening to Phil Harris from watching the aristocats and jungle book. He was going to reprise his role on talespin (another show that I grew up watching too), but I heard that he was too old to provide the voice for baloo. R.I.P Phil Harris 1904-1995

JustLeiLani, Don't die! You're much too young and nothing's worth it! Of course, you must realize that I grew up around two-generations of the business, was always around actors, mostly writers and directors, and I went to Beverly High with Dino's late son,(didn't know him though), but this was a special night. The most interesting aspect of that evening I left out. My Mom and I were seated at the front table, right next to then Gov. Ronnie and Nancy Reagan! Don't die!(promise me!) Best, R.J.

This is my favorite vid in the world. But, embarassingly, I STILL do not get that "blacksmith job" line. I am female,but what the heck does that have to do with nails?? I am SURE you are right. But help me, help me what does it have to do with a manicure?? Like,she painted them black?? I assume by "other duties" you may mean sex. Even with THAT hint I still do not get it. Help please, because this is my vid I play in the morning, or if I am feeling down, or whatever - it just makes me happy!

Hey Compadres-- Go look at "Gallagher and Sheen", the vaudevillians who did the original of this song (different lyrics, of course). They weren't filmed performing it but it was done later in a movie and features one of the originals of the G&S team and the Marx brother's uncle playing the other part in a clip you can view on You Tube!

Fan of old-time radio. Listened to Phil Harris on the Jack Benny show for years (hey Jackson). Then Phil Harris got his own show, with his wife Alice Faye. Remember Walter Tetley who was Leroy from the Great Gildersleeve? He was Phil Harris' arch nemisis. There was no greater fun than this.
