I agree with all the comments that is posted.
Just by watching the video of this bird flying
around, I've noticed just how noisy this helo
is with the 5-bladed ducted pusher prop on the tail if this aircraft. I bet you could hear this bird coming from quite a long ways
away. Normal helicopters, you can hear coming
at ya from quite a distance anyways. Nice looking bird, though!

It hit just over 180 knots. they have plans for 230!

Having those wings kind of reminds me of the S-72 that NASA tested a while back. I wonder if that desgin would actually increase the a/c's ability to withstand a tail strike...Impressive.

WHY isnt this design yhe worlds fastest helicopter instead of the Lynx?Anybody know if the ducted fan design is more difficult in hover than the tailrotor design?

this design used to be the fastest helicopter when it came out in the 60's. Look up the history of Piaseck Aircraft Corp. This is the first design of this to be this big. The tail duct is right around 8 ft in diameter. There are no hovering problems except for it being a little tail heavy but they have improved it since.

seems to me this is the same idea as the cheyanne prototype attack helicopter the US had a while back.

LOL, almost forgot about the Cheyenne. Yeah, it did have those long wings on the prototype. I remember that the AAH design has dramatically shortened those wings though.

This is just a prototype/proof model. The pusher prop is made of wood. The actual production model will be slightly different with a composite pusher prop. that will make it a lot less noisey.

this isnt as good an idea as the v22 osprey tiltrotor. as with a helicopter you can only go so fast before you get retreating blade stall and it flips over on itself...
